KL Rahul silences strike rate critics: LSG reveal secret with funny meme

LSG captain KL Rahul silenced the strike rate critics after his match-winning knock for against CSK at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on April 19, Friday. Rahul led the team from the front with his 82 run-knock as they sailed to a win with 8 wickets in hand against CSK. Rahul was awarded the Player of the Match for his classy knock. Rahul batted at a strike-rate of 154.72 in a sluggish pitch to help LSG bag a crucial win, snapping a streak of back to back losses in their previous 2 games.

It seemed like the viral defence minister meme did the trick for Rahul, who has been striking over 140 in the last 3 matches. At least, that is what the latest trend around Rahul’s striking ability suggests, as pointed out by LSG in their latest social media post.

In the viral video, shared by LSG earlier, Rahul was being a sport by acknowledging the criticism surrounding his strike rate. In the video, Rahul and actor/influencer Shubham Gaur engaged in a light-hearted banter over the captain’s strike rate after LSG won by 33 runs against GT. Rahul had scored 33 runs from 31 balls during the match as LSG successfully defended 163 runs.

Shubham asked Rahul to become India’s next defence minister, to which Rahul asked cheekily, if he was also making fun of his low strike rate. However, Shubham informed Rahul that it was due to the team’s ability to defend scores in the range of 160s.

“Congrats, Rahul bhai. I think you should become India’s next defence minister,” Shubham said in the video.

“You are also making fun of the strike rate,” Rahul asked in response.

“No, No, you are successfully defending scores in the range of 160s. That’s why,” the influencer responded in the well-scripted banter between the two.

Soon after the video, LSG’s record of defending targets around the 160-mark broke as DC chased down 168 runs with 6 wickets to spare. The viral video also broke the jinx around Rahul’s strike rate as well as he has struck at 177.27 against DC. 144.44 against KKR and 154.72 against CSK. Rahul scored 82 runs from 53 balls and sailed through the chase of 177 runs, which was completed with an over to spare.
