Vice President Harris arrives in San Diego for brief visit

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris arrived in San Diego on Friday for a political fundraiser in North County.

White House officials confirmed the visit to FOX 5/KUSI on Thursday. Harris landed at U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar around 2:30 p.m. SkyFOX/KUSI in the Sky is over the scene as Air Force Two pulled into the runway.

Traffic was blocked by law enforcement along Interstate 5 as the vice presidential motorcade traveled up towards where the fundraiser is taking place.

Harris was reportedly traveling from Los Angeles, where she has a home in the Brentwood neighborhood. On Thursday, the vice president was in Colorado Springs for the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation, which she spoke at.

Harris’ stop in San Diego on Friday will mark the first visit by either the president or vice president in over a year — President Joe Biden last journeyed to the city for a meeting with the British and Australian Prime Ministers to discuss a historic defense deal.

First Lady Jill Biden visited San Diego several months after that meeting for a private event supporting the president’s reelection campaign.

The fundraiser was held at the Rancho Santa Fe estate owned by Allan and Megan Camaisa, according to the press pool at the event. Allan is an entrepreneur in biotech and security software, while Megan is a producer in film and Christian media.

It is unclear if the vice president will be visiting the same Rancho Santa Fe estate or another for Friday’s fundraiser.

FOX 5 has a team following Vice President Harris while she is in San Diego. Check back for updates.
